Bluffton, Ohio – One can argue that making money as a college student can be a difficult task, but many students around Bluffton University are finding ways to make a few extra dollars while on campus.
From baking to hairdressing and anywhere in between, students are offering up their goods and services to distribute to the campus community. Trin Borgman, junior psychology and social work major, is one of these students using their hobbies to sell items to students. Trin handmakes bracelets, keychains and crochets as well.
“I started making bracelets two years ago and the reason I started selling them was because it wasn’t a super expensive hobby but so many people were like, “Can you make me one?” and the demand got so high I thought “I could probably make a few bucks off of this,” said Borgman.

Another student taking advantage of their talent is Nadia Button, senior criminal justice major.
Button’s side hustle involves doing hair for students on campus. She offers dreads and twists to those who requests her services but she didn’t think that she would be offering her services to everyone on campus when she first started.
“I had never done hair until I came here to Bluffton my freshman year,” said Button. “I had really close friend that would send me videos of how he wanted his hair done and I would practice on him. Everyone seemed to like how his was done and they started asking me to do their hair.”
Button plans to take her talents to The Cuts on Bluffton University’s campus so that she can provide her services to more students and as a potential life-long side hustle.
